A small part of Neel’s Ramayana journey

Neel Madhu’s connection to the early stages of the Ramayana project came while he was working at DNEG as a Motion Capture TD. In his own Instagram post, he describes helping set up a Vicon motion-capture studio and supporting Xsens capture shoots, virtual scouting and VCam sessions.

He reflects on the experience with gratitude, while noting that he wishes he could have spent more time on the project. The post below is Neel’s own screenshot and words.

What Apple Arts Studios does today

Apple Arts Studios is a Hyderabad-based motion-capture and post-production company. Its current work supports film, television, games, animation, VFX and virtual production teams, with services spanning capture through production-ready data delivery.

The team’s current services include optical body tracking and motion-capture cleanup; body retargeting; facial tracking and retargeting; quadruped and creature data processing; full-performance capture for body, face, fingers and props; and studio or on-location capture. AAS also supports motion-capture previsualization and real-time visualization workflows, alongside custom human-motion datasets for AI and humanoid-robotics projects.

For post-processing, AAS describes workflows for tracking and solving, marker cleanup, gap filling, occlusion correction, jitter removal, retargeting and quality control. The studio publishes delivery options based on each production’s pipeline and requirements.

Building toward a larger capture stage in India

AAS has announced an upcoming Hyderabad facility intended to expand the scale of production it can support. The company’s announcement describes a planned 127-camera configuration, full-body performance capture, head-mounted facial capture, prop tracking and photogrammetric scanning. These are announced plans for the upcoming facility; the visuals here illustrate that buildout, and do not imply that the new space is already open.

The aim is to give productions in India and around the world more room to plan and capture ambitious performances—from multi-actor action and stunt work to detailed facial, finger and prop performances—while connecting capture with visualization and downstream processing. Final availability and project fit can be discussed directly with the AAS team.

From capture to usable performance

Whether a production needs its own recorded data cleaned and retargeted, a team to capture on location, or a Hyderabad stage for a planned performance-capture shoot, AAS can scope support around the project’s technical pipeline and creative needs.
